Business Week Announces Power 100 Athletes

While Olympic judges are rating athletes based on their abilities, Bloomberg Business Week is ranking them based on their earning potential and performance skills.

Business Week collaborated with sports columnist Rick Horrow and integrated sports entertainment company CSE to create 2010’s Power 100 List. Unlike lists in previous years, the 2010 list focuses solely on the earning potential of athletes.

He is currently the star of his own MTV reality show, The Life of Ryan, and with J.C. Penney has launched a clothing line, RS By Sheckler.

I guess, it's my first time to take a stand on my blog and all I can say is, "I'm not fully flattered with Manny Pacquiao (a fellow Filipino) to fall on the 72nd spot (you know). Btw, people say that Ryan is a sellout, then my question is, "Who is more sellout, Ryan Sheckler or Manny Pacquiao?"

Ryan Sheckler visits K1 Speed Carlsbad

K1 Speed Carlsbad was visited by skateboarding prodigy, Ryan Sheckler this past week with other friends of his to take on the Carlsbad layout. Sheckler, who turned into a pro skateboarder at the age of 13, has been winning competitions ever since including three AST Dew Tour Titles, and X-Games gold in 2008. Ryan was able to successfully show his driving skills are as good as his skateboarding skills, posting lap times in the mid 26 second range, and beating his buddies in their 16 lap GP race on the technical course.

Pro skater Ryan Sheckler gets OK for skate park

Ryan Sheckler, 20-year-old pro skateboarder and star of the MTV series "Life of Ryan," now has his own city-approved private training facility in San Clemente.

It's in a 4,900-square-foot warehouse in the Rancho San Clemente Business Park that Sheckler converted to a private indoor skate park with ramps, stairs, railings and other features.

City planning commissioners approved a permit Wednesday night, setting hours, rules and occupancy limits. For example, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, the facility is to be limited to one individual and no spectators. From 5 p.m. to midnight, there can be up to five people.

"At no time will the training area be open to the general public," said John Ciampa, assistant city planner. "The training area was used by the previous business for warehouse purposes and has been converted to an indoor skateboard park for Mr. Sheckler to practice without distraction."

Estonia gets rocked

This coming weekend some of the best skaters in the world ate taking it to Tallinn, Estonia. Yeah, you read that right. Ryan Sheckler, Tom Penny, Chris Pfanner, Danny Wainright, Kurtis Colamonico, Johnny Layton and a whole grip of European rippers will be touching down north of Latvia and just south of Finland for one serious contest. The 10th annual Simpel Session comp is sure to be a doozy.

If the course construction videos are any indication, the Estonians spared no expense to design something original and top notch to skate. The whole comp will be live webcast so you can catch the action from around the globe. Should be a good one.
